What is our Recreational Program?
The Recreational Program is designed for players to learn the sport of soccer and for youths interested in playing in an environment focused on development both on and off the soccer field. The goal of the program is to improve the quality of soccer played in Spartanburg County, provide opportunities for more children to participate in the sport, and help young people become productive members of the community. The Developmental Program is a great place for any young soccer player. It is open to boys and girls, ages 3 to 18.
The Recreational Program is focused on creating an atmosphere of FUN, LEARNING, and COMMUNITY. Our goal is for each child to be introduced to the game in a positive manner which will hopefully lead them to fall in love with the game of soccer. Each and every initiative targeted at the Players and Coaches in our Developmental Program is designed to enhance this goal and the player’s individual experience. We also strive to foster a sense of community around the game of soccer. Families and a family atmosphere are integral to our club. Carolina FC’s Developmental Program brings together families from diverse backgrounds to celebrate youth, health, exercise, and our community.
Recreational Program is offered to all children ages 3-18.
NO previous playing experience required, NO requirement of advanced skills
Each team requires a volunteer coach
Season and Field Information:
Carolina FC offers two seasons of play. The Fall season starts August 28th and runs thru November 11th and the Spring season runs from early February to the end of April. We offer online registration please click here, as well as walk up registration before each new season begins.
Each season will consist of up to 8 to 10 games.
The wide variety of competition guarantees that your player will have a positive experience on game days as all games will be competitive. Practices locations include USC Upstate, Van-Du-Mar, 295 Sports Complex. Please note every effort will be made to create teams at each location.
This program is run by Age Group Coordinators who are Carolina Football Club staff coaches and volunteers who dedicate their time to Carolina FC due to their love of the game of soccer and the kids. Our aim is to see that the children of the community start their soccer experience in a positive and fun way.
Children registered in each age group will be divided into teams and assigned a volunteer coach. The coaches will notify players regarding practice days and times. Teams typically practice one time to two times per week and play one game per week. Players are selected in a blind draft at the beginning of each seasonal year. Teams might stay together from the Fall to Spring seasons. New players entering the league in the Spring will be added to existing teams.
Teams will play an average of 8 to 10 games per season. Games usually take place on Saturdays and will be played at Carolina Football Club Complex.

The Carolina Football Club Soccer Shots Program is a beginning soccer program for younger children ages 3 to 4. The program's focus is to introduce young players to the basic first skills to learning the game of soccer. Soccer Shots will get children running and participating with other children in an age appropriate manner. Training Equipment Requirements
What to wear to training?
We ask that all players wear soccer shorts (no basketball, cheerleader or jean shorts!). Shin guards and soccer socks are required. The shin guards go under a player's socks. Everyone must wear shin guards for practice and games. Soccer ‘boots’ cleats are to be worn (no baseball or football cleats).
Note: Our colors are blue, white, yellow, black and grey. We ask that you do your best to stay within these parameters. (This color policy is overlooked during the winter as warmth is the #1 priority!)
What to bring to training?
A properly inflated size 4 or 5 soccer ball is your most important asset. The vast majority of the training is technical based and therefore every player is required to have their own ball. This is to benefit their own development. We also ask that players bring a water bottle to all sessions. If you are unable to attend practice please inform coach or AGC as soon as possible.
If you are unable to attend games please inform coach or AGC by Wednesday week prior to match.
